Software Verification Engineer

Responsibilities

  • SW V&V team activities towards the validation, verification and release of embedded software solutions for control systems to meet customer deadlines and complete projects within budgetary constraints;
  • Review software architecture and formal structured design against product and software requirements;
  • Perform Requirement based testing (Hardware - Software/Software - Software and Low level) as per DO-178B/C Level A, B and C guidelines;
  • Perform Peer Reviews and Analysis of requirements and test artifacts;
  • Identify and support in automating the processes and project artifacts generation;
  • Support Automated Tester requirements definition for supporting SW verification;
  • Review source code against detailed design documents, standards and perform analysis, review and testing;
  • Perform software traceability analysis from system requirements to software design, implementation and verification;
  • Develop and document formal software test plans, test cases, test procedures and test results;
  • Develop, deploy and support DO-178B processes, reviews (SOI), verification plans and review checklists;
  • Support the SW process by identifying improvement areas and develop alternate strategies for improvement;
  • Analyze, generate and review software life cycle data packages for DO-178B certification;
  • Assist with maintenance of SW Group’s Engineering Design Manual (EDM) and Engineering Operational Procedures (EOP’s) and processes ensuring they are current and meet the requirements of FAA, EASA and TC certification standards and guidelines.
 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer, Electrical, Software Engineering, or equivalent;
  • Minimum 4 years of software V&V experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems;
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with integrated software development environment (SDE) and tools, configuration management systems (CM) and problem reporting system (PR);
  • Experience working on MPC55xx micro-controller series would be an asset;
  • Working experience with DO-178B/C processes or equivalent formal certification processes;
  • Understanding and experience of various Software Test methodologies (Black Box vs. White Box, Unit Testing, Software Integration, and HW SW Integration testing);
  • Experience with LDRA or RTRT test tools would be an asset;
  • Familiar with scripting languages such as Python and Perl for generating test scripts;
  • Good working knowledge of software testing, verification methodologies and profiling tools;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
