Job Title: Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a motivated Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in providing technical direction and support for complex projects within areas such as Fuel Handling Systems, plant operations, tooling, medical isotope systems, and remote delivery machines. Utilizing tools like AutoCAD®, AutoCAD Electrical®, and IntEC®, the successful candidate will create detailed designs, and drawings, and provide solutions for obsolete components. This position involves close interaction with internal and external customers to deliver engineering design, troubleshooting, maintenance, and support work.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and design electrical drawings/schematics, assembly drawings, single line diagrams, and technical documents.

  • Liaise with various groups to gather site-specific information for designs.

  • Conduct equipment walkdowns in the plant.

  • Present technical data to stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in design reviews and customer meetings.

  • Oversee the test execution and commissioning of equipment.

  • Review and select components (motors, cables, relays, etc.).

  • Support and estimate engineering proposals.

  • Lead by example in compliance and adherence to industry standards and processes.

  • Support customer relationships and market alignment.

  • Participate in proposal development and risk management.

  • Ensure health and safety in all projects and activities.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • B.A.Sc. in Electrical/Instrumentation & Control/Automation Engineering or related discipline.

  • Holds or pursuing a PEO license.

  • 3+ years of experience in a highly regulated design environment (e.g., Nuclear, Aerospace).

  • Proficient in industrial automation technologies (PLC, HMI, SCADA).

  • Knowledge of low voltage power distribution, control circuits, and various components (motors, valves, sensors).

  • Experience in design documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to travel short-term for client and stakeholder meetings.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with IBM DOORS.

  • Familiarity with the CANDU Nuclear Industry and CSA Nuclear Codes.

  • Understanding of Engineering Change Control (ECC) concepts.

  • Project management and controls training.

General Skills:

  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

  • Creative and innovative thinking.

  • Proficiency in navigating the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
