Senior Financial Analyst
Location - Peterborough
The Financial and Accounting Analyst will report to the Senior Manager of Finance and is an integral part of the Finance team. This person will be responsible for analyzing financial status by collecting, monitoring and studying operation’s inputs and outputs. The goal of the role is to help optimize performance by identifying trends and making recommendation. He/ She will also be responsible to lead budgeting/forecasting, consolidating variance analysis and reporting of information to stakeholders locally and internationally.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Track and determine financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
- Increase productivity by developing automated accounting applications; financial models and coordinating information requirements
- Improve financial status by analyzing and interpreting data/results; making comparative analyses; monitoring variances; identifying trends and recommending actions to management
- Preform month-end reconciliations of general ledger account, validating balance and investigating/correcting by creating journal entries and full reconciliation report of all balance sheet accounts
- Consolidate and analyze financial data (budgets, income statement forecasts etc) taking into account company’s goals and financial standing
- Develop, understand, and improve the Standard Cost Models and articulately report variance causes to the standards
- Monitor inventory levels and schedules to ensure all inventories are properly valued, verified (account recs) and summarized for meaningful use by management
- Lead the yearly budgeting and monthly/ quarterly forecasting process (with support from SMF) by developing a strong understanding of business models
- Consolidate required information, produce financial reporting packages (monthly and quarterly), perform initial reviews and upload information as required to meet the needs of corporate reporting and oversight
- Processes billings and ensuring proper revenue recognition in collaborative efforts with SMF and others in the finance department
- Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
- Assemble and summarize data to structure sophisticated reports on financial status and risks
- Conduct business studies on past, future and comparative performance and develop forecast/financial models conduct benchmarking and process analysis
- Coordinating with other members of the finance team to review financial information and forecasts
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5- 10 years of proven work experience as a financial and accounting analyst, preferably in manufacturing sector
- Proven experience developing financial models by consolidating ERP data
- High-level of proficiency in MS-Excel (including macros), MS-Office suite and financial software applications (ERP)
- Proven experience in data visualization tools including, but not limited to, Power BI, Tableau etc.
- Proven knowledge of financial forecasting, modeling and diagnosis, corporate finance and information analysis
- Well informed in current financial subjects, accounting, tax laws, money market and business environments
- BS degree in Finance, Economics or related field, MS degree preferred
- Excellent time management and organizational ability
- Good oral and written communication skills
