Job Title: Configuration Management Specialist

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Configuration Management Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining effective Configuration Management (CM) practices across assigned projects and products. You will ensure consistency in the application of CM principles and processes throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • CM Implementation and Maintenance:
    • Implement and maintain the CM system for assigned projects/products.
    • Ensure data consistency within the CM system.
    • Analyze contractual CM requirements and estimate associated costs and timelines.
    • Define, implement, and maintain CM activities, including planning, identification, control, status accounting, and verification/audit.
    • Manage the implementation of PLM systems for CM, including requirements analysis, configuration, customization, data loading, and user training.
  • Technical Leadership and Problem Solving:
    • Provide technical leadership and solve complex CM problems.
    • Participate in creating Product Breakdown Structures (PBS).
    • Establish CM baselines (FBL, ABL, PBL).
    • Conduct configuration audits (FCA, PCA, SCA) and software build verification.
    • Ensure proper PLM system usage and CM practice adherence.
    • Provide support and resolve CM issues, escalate and complete corrective actions.
    • Maintain data consistency in the CM system across different locations (COO and COD).
    • Specify CM requirements to subcontractors and suppliers and monitor compliance.
    • Collaborate with other CM personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers on CM-related issues.
    • Contribute to CM process and tool improvement initiatives.
    • Provide leadership to drive organizational change and CM adoption.
    • Coordinate CM administrators and ensure consistency of configuration information.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in CM, systems, software/hardware development within engineering or a cross-functional role.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with PLM systems, preferably Windchill or Palma.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of CM practices and principles.
  • Proficiency in CM software and hardware, and development processes.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with commercial version control and problem reporting tools.
  • Railway industry experience or similar complex system development experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Visual Studio, DOORS, ClearCase/GIT, ClearQuest/JIRA, or SAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
