PLC PROGRAMMER

Aversan Inc. (www.aversan.com) is a reputable Engineering Company that provides expertise in Systems Integration, Product Design/Development and Software/Product Testing for highly regulated industries including Digital Health, Medical Devices, IT and Aerospace.  We are currently seeking a qualified PLC Programmer to work on leading edge technology products. The successful candidate for this position will be a part of highly motivated and highly technical work environment that feeds off the collective energy of a team-oriented workplace.

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, program, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for nuclear facility systems to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Work with Siemens TIA Portal for programming, configuration, and integration of control systems within nuclear environments.
  • Configure and program Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems using WinCC to enable efficient monitoring and control of nuclear processes.
  • Conduct PLC diagnostics, testing, and commissioning for safe, reliable plant operation.
  • Utilize safety-rated PLCs for mission-critical applications in reactor control and safety shutdown systems.
  • Implement Redundant PLC architectures to ensure system reliability in nuclear safety applications.
  • Design and program fail-safe logic and emergency stop (E-stop) functions critical to nuclear reactor safety protocols.
  • Create and manage PLC communications networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus) for seamless integration between automation systems and nuclear operations.
  • Work with distributed control systems (DCS) to interface PLCs with broader plant control architecture.
  • Collaborate with design and safety teams to ensure PLC programming meets nuclear safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, NRC regulations).
  • Participate in HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) and SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) testing for PLC validation in simulated nuclear environments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience in PLC programming, particularly in nuclear or highly regulated industries.
  • Expertise in Siemens TIA Portal and WinCC for HMI development and system integration.
  • Experience with safety-rated PLCs, redundant systems, and fail-safe programming in critical environments.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear industry safety protocols and regulations.
  • Proven experience working with reactor designs like SMRs, CANDUs, BWRs, PWRs, and Fast Reactors.
