SYSTEM DESIGN SPECIALIST - INTERMEDIATE

Aversan Inc. (www.aversan.com) is a reputable Engineering Company that provides expertise in Systems Integration, Product Design/Development and Software/Product Testing for highly regulated industries including Digital Health, Medical Devices, IT and Aerospace.  We are currently seeking a qualified System Design Specialist - Intermediate to work on leading edge technology products. The successful candidate for this position will be a part of highly motivated and highly technical work environment that feeds off the collective energy of a team-oriented workplace.

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and support customer requirements compliance assessment and gap analysis.
  • Convert Customer (internal and/or external) requirements into conceptual designs and prepares associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations and technical trade-off studies evaluating alternative design configurations and functional features.
  • Prepare system, subsystem, and interface requirement specifications by analyzing and decomposing modelling, refining customer requirements and typical train control domain requirements.
  • Present technical design to other engineering/management groups in clear, complete, concise, and non-ambiguous terms.
  • Interface and build strong working relationships with Software, Hardware and IVVQ groups to ensure timely analysis and resolution of in-house and field test issues.
  • Promote a safety culture where product safety is paramount.
  • Ensure that safety is built into the design by early identification and resolution of safety related defects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Systems, Electrical, Computer), Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in development of software-based System applications.
  • Knowledge of modern software engineering practices, methods, and tools.
  • Knowledge of systems development life cycle.
  • Intermediate level expertise in URS (Urban Rail Signaling) Systems:  Minimum 2 years on/or similar system complexity-intermediate level of expertise on specialized engineering skills of the CBTC (Communication Based Train Control) domain.
  • Experience in using DOORS, Polarion, Melody advance, or other system design and requirement management tools is an asset.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices is an asset.
  • Rail Signaling knowledge is an asset.
  • System engineering expertise is an asset.
