System Design Specialist

SYSTEM DESIGN SPECIALIST

Aversan Inc. (www.aversan.com) is a reputable Engineering Company that provides expertise in Systems Integration, Product Design/Development and Software/Product Testing for highly regulated industries including Digital Health, Medical Devices, IT and Aerospace.  We are currently seeking a qualified System Design Specialist to work on leading edge technology products. The successful candidate for this position will be a part of highly motivated and highly technical work environment that feeds off the collective energy of a team-oriented workplace.

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Converts Customer (internal and/or external) requirements into conceptual designs and prepares associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations and technical trade-off studies evaluating alternative design configurations and functional features.
  • Prepares system, subsystem, and interface requirement specifications by analysing, decomposing modelling and refining customer requirements and typical train control domain requirements.
  • Performs technical/engineering tasks to define system design, subsystem requirements, application databases for software subsystems.  Analysis and simulations are performed as necessary to identify design feasibility & driving requirements.
  • Prepares specialised signalling design skills, covering one or more of the following:
    • Signalling Principles;Block design; Interlocking control tables; Safe braking model; Performance analysis and Headway simulations; Application database design.
  • Prepares specialised network design skills, covering one or more of the following:
    • Communication network requirements;Communication network design (both wired and wireless);Communication network configuration (both wired and wireless); Communication network analysis on various perspectives, such as reliability, security, scalability, maintainability etc.
  • Prepares and supports bids and proposals, including customer requirements compliance assessment, gap analysis, architecture design, simulation, trade-off of key features, estimation, etc.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer) , Computer Science, or a closely related field
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Experience in using DOORS, Melody advance, etc.
  • Strong application (automated train control systems) domain knowledge & knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices
  • Rail Signaling knowledge
  • System engineering expertise
  •  Excellent technical writing and communication skills
  • Any relevant experience in development of software-based System applications.
  • Knowledge of modern software engineering practices, methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of systems development life cycle.
