We are currently seeking a qualified Engineering Technician.
Successful candidates will support the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of optical, opto-mechanical, and opto-electrical systems. The successful candidate will assist in prototype development, perform precision optical alignments, operate specialized lab equipment, and provide technical support to engineering teams. This role requires strong hands-on capability, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities
Assemble and test opto-mechanical and opto-electrical systems based on engineering documentation.
Build free-space optical setups, perform 6-axis alignment, and assess optical performance using laboratory equipment.
Operate measurement tools such as interferometers, lasers, power meters, and scientific cameras.
Support prototype and production testing through setup, monitoring, and operation of test equipment.
Execute and modify test scripts using MATLAB or Python.
Build and test electrical harnesses, including wiring, soldering, and verification procedures.
Troubleshoot optical, mechanical, and electrical components using diagnostic tools.
Document work through lab notes, procedures, and drawing markups.
Contribute to process improvements and provide technical support to the engineering team.
Basic Qualifications
Technical diploma or degree in a relevant field.
Minimum 3 years of experience with optical setups and laboratory testing.
Hands-on experience with opto-mechanical and opto-electrical systems.
Strong understanding of optical and opto-electronic components.
Ability to write and execute MATLAB or Python test scripts.
Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Experience with the following is an asset:
Experience with fiber-optic systems, Class 4 laser safety, ESD, or clean-room environments.
Familiarity with electrical systems and mechanical CAD tools.
Experience using standard lab instrumentation and calibration equipment.
SAP or ERP system familiarity.
