Sr. Systems Simulation Engineer

  • Mathematical modelling of complex multi-body robotic systems, rigid/flexible robotic systems using the in-house developed simulator;
  • Use Python or other software languages to drive enhancements to robotic operations;
  • Identify automation opportunities to perform each robotic mission more simply than the last;
  • Translate operations into procedures, flight rules, and other real-time products for future robotics missions
  • Perform evaluation of robotics in-flight performance;
  • Tuning of the control system parameters of the manipulators to meet the performance and stability objectives required for the On-Orbit tasks;
  • Performing simulation runs to validate mathematical models, new parameters, and control algorithms;
  • Performing mission operations analysis using state-of-the-art simulation tools, computer vision algorithms, and AI/Machine Learning technologies;
  • Presenting analysis results to Technical Leads, Program management and customers;
  • Contributing to technology development (R&D activities) and to the Front End of the Business.

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Systems, Computer, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent;
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience with focus on simulation and modelling;
  • The candidate should understand the product development cycle process, including analysis and design, development technologies and tools and technologies, version control, and testing methodologies;
  • Experience in simulating control systems design using MATLAB/Simulink;
  • Experience with a customer-facing position, handling design requirements, test acceptance, and verification is an asset;
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop & Software in the loop would be an asset;
  • Experience on control and dynamic modelling of multi-DOF manipulators is an asset;
  • Knowledge in thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid dynamics would be an asset;
  • Ability to work in a team environment with project engineers, systems engineers, hardware engineers, and software engineers;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
