Reporting to the CEO, provide financial leadership to the management team on strategic planning, business development, and major business decision matters;
Develop and implement critical key performance indicators (KPI) for all areas of the company's business;
Oversee accounting staff including the company's payroll function, billing, receivables and payables;
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and analysis;
Monitor and manage performance indicators on a weekly basis;
Prepare monthly corporate income tax accruals and reconcile the tax accounts;
Prepare bank reporting and cash flow projections;
Work with departments and management team on costing of services and RFP submissions;
Document, monitor and enforce key controls with a focus on minimizing risks;
Preparation of operating and capital budgets and forecasts, working closely with all departments;
Plan and coordinate the audit preparation;
Deal with auditors on an annual basis on company's financial review;
Deal with CRA auditor requests, SRED filing reviews, audits, and other government agencies regarding legislative compliance matters.
Basic Qualifications
Undergraduate degree/diploma in accounting or finance – professional accounting designation preferred (CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA);
A minimum of eight years' relevant experience in financial accounting, analysis and reporting;
Good knowledge of GAAP and Canadian tax legislation;
Strong numerical and analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail;
Financial performance management, cost variance analysis, preparation of monthly reports and attention to cost savings;
Strong computer skills - Proficient in QuickBooks and advanced ability with MS Office and Excel;
Excellent communication, well organized, critical thinker, and strong leadership abilities;
Able to work independently or as part of a team;
Experience working with a professional service firm will be an asset.
