Technical Editor/Writer

Aversan Inc. is a multi-service engineering firm specializing in design, build, testing, certification, and support services for embedded flight and rail systems & software, health technology, and advanced IT.

  • The Technical Editor/Writer will be responsible for thoroughly proofreading all written training materials and editing according to project-specific, documented standards.
  • A Technical Editor/Writer is required for the FTO (Flight Training organization) program to proofread, edit and quality control training materials (PPTs, training manuals, training aids, textbooks, etc.).
  • Technical editing and writing are required for all written materials before they are sent to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for final review. Although SMEs and Instructional Systems Designers are responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all learning content, the Technical Editor/Writer will act as the final quality gate in terms of: Grammar, Sentence structure, Punctuation, Capitalization, Spelling,Word usage / terminology, Parallel structure in bullet lists
  • Other items identified in editing checklists and standards manuals
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience;
  • Contribute to the ongoing efforts of Training Solutions to establish and document writing standards for training materials.
  • Ensure standards are applied consistently across material and retroactively on active projects if/when standards are changed or new standards are introduced.
  • Verify technical content and sub-media presentation requirements (e.g., with Subject Matter Expert).  
  • Design and document publications, producing outlines, paste-ups, and go-bys with associated tools.
  • Identify, evaluate and manipulate source material in preparation for publication development using format specific software (e.g., InDesign, FrameMaker, Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
  • Provide guidance to support personnel (graphic artist, photographer, etc.) for revision, upgrade or development of source material.
