Sr Engineering Support Specialist

Mississauga, Ontario

Responsibilities

  • Support development testing of Electronics Controller including developing, debugging and troubleshooting
  • Using industry standard and custom made test equipment, perform validation testing
  • Create schematic diagrams, verbal & written test result reports / log books for the Engineering Publications group
  • Assemble electrical test setups from industry standard equipment to perform all required tests on development type units
  • Investigate product non-conformances and assist Design Engineers to identify root causes
  • Work with other groups within Test Function to support the timely completion of assignments with focus in schedule fidelity, quality of work, and within budget and cost estimated through effective communication and cooperation
  • Work in accordance to Test Engineering Procedures and Manuals
  • Review test plans and/or instructions to determine support hardware requirements and identify potential problems prior to testing
  • Document the test progress, test conditions, test incidents, test related activities, problems encountered and any resolutions
  • Coordinate directly with test leads, project engineers, electrical engineers and other lab personnel to help achieve testing objectives
  • Demonstrate initiatives and execution to drive test set/process continuous improvements.
  • Support 5S initiatives
  • Willing to work a 10 hour day and change shifts from days to afternoon (2:00 p.m. to midnight ), and nights ( 11:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m ) on a weekly basis as required

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of 6 years' experience, aerospace industry preferred
  • Experience with development electronic tests
  • Experience with standards and other related industrial standards and test practice an asset.
  • Understanding of basic electronic concepts
  • Previous experience in programming & operating common electronic test equipment for development tests such as oscilloscopes, DMM, data acquisition, etc
  • Familiar with safe practices working in test environment
  • Hands on experience to develop breadboards, research grades circuit boards and repair SMD parts
  • Experience with communication protocols like A429, CANBus, RS485/422, and Ethernet and able to setup communication cards in computers.

Additional Skills

  • Demonstrates strong performance in a team environment to meet an intensive task schedule for assigned program(s)
  • Previous experience working in an development test lab for an Aerospace or Automotive design company, or a recognized test lab
  • Previous experience programming & operating test equipment for development tests such as oscilloscopes, DMM, data acquisition, etc
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with employees at all levels
  • Competent in standard computing skills; Microsoft Office suite to assist in providing presentation and reports.
  • Provide assistance in the improvement of Honeywell's Test processes
  • Will carry out responsibilities within time and within estimated effort
