Software Analyst

  • Perform design, analysis, programming and integration activities in the development of software for train control systems for the company;
  • Plan and direct work within the software team and provide technical guidance to other analysts;
  • Understand and follow the company’s processes and procedures for developing vital software;
  • Implement real time systems in ‘C’ and with some Assembler;
  • Produce the software requirements analysis, designs, codes, debugs, write test procedures and tests software code;
  • Review software requirements analysis, designs, code, test procedures and test results;
  • Chair design reviews for functions implemented;
  • Analyze, implement correction, and review defect reports;
  • Prepare reports, giving findings on problems;

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science for equivalent;
  • Minimum 5 years relevant working experience in real-time embedded applications, ideally on safety critical systems;
  • Good command of the ‘C’ language;
  • Experience with Assembler programming preferred;
  • Some knowledge of Windows/Linux programming preferred;
  • Experience with software development for the Freescale K60 processor would be an asset;
  • Experience with software testing tool VectorCast preferred;
  • Knowledge of railway signalling techniques preferred;
  • Good analysis skills, able to diagnose issues based on field logs and correlate events to failures;
  • Able to handle assignments within a medium to large scale software application;
  • Good organizational abilities.  Good interpersonal skills, writing and verbal skills;
  • Able to quickly integrate with the team and work independently;
  • Knowledgeable of the software development process;
  • Knowledge of software development environment (Windows, Linux, desktop simulator, target simulator, etc);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
