We are currently seeking a qualified Senior Flight Software Engineer/MTS to join our team. In this role, you will lead designs for safety critical, real-time software solutions while mentoring junior team members. An ideal candidate brings extensive experience in C++, VxWorks, and embedded applications, along with strong communication skills and a proven track record of designing and implementing safety-critical real-time software.

Compensation: $112,000- $140,000 CAD (annual salary)

Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, implementation, and testing of safety-critical, real-time embedded flight software solutions.
- Define and document complex software designs, ensuring technical decisions and architectures are clearly communicated across the team.
- Lead subsystem design and implementation activities, delivering modular, extensible, testable, and efficient software solutions.
- Review software designs, code, and other work products to ensure quality, reliability, and compliance with established engineering standards.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers by providing technical guidance, explaining design trade-offs, and supporting their professional development.
- Lead effort estimation for new tasks and contribute to project planning and technical decision-making.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and management to establish, improve, and enforce coding standards, development tools, environments, and software engineering processes.
- Develop and execute automated tests to verify software functionality, performance, and reliability in real-time environments.
- Support software integration, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to team objectives and perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management or the team lead.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience developing embedded software applications.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with VxWorks (Wind River).
- Strong programming skills in C++ and experience developing real-time embedded applications.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement safety-critical, real-time software solutions.
- Experience working with systems-on-chip (SoCs).
- Experience with automated software testing and verification.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, including software design reviews, technical decision-making, and mentoring of junior team members.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and committed to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance and meet Controlled Goods Program (CGP) security assessment requirements, with eligibility to obtain higher-level clearances as required.
