We are currently seeking a qualified Software Test Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, development, and execution of software verification and validation activities for complex mechatronic systems. This role is responsible for developing software test strategies, plans, procedures, and automated test solutions, while ensuring full requirements traceability, quality compliance, and successful integration within SIL/HIL environments. The individual will work closely with software, systems, and integration teams, providing technical leadership throughout the software test lifecycle and supporting customer-facing test reviews, reporting, and program execution.

Compensation: $85,600 – $107,000 CAD (annual salary)

Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated test plans, test cases, and test scripts to verify compliance with software requirements.
- Ensure bidirectional traceability between system requirements, software requirements, and test procedures.
- Lead peer reviews of software test artifacts and drive issue resolution activities.
- Develop and execute regression testing strategies to ensure software releases maintain existing functionality.
- Lead Software Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities and manage software test baselines, configuration management, and change control processes.
- Support the design, build, integration, commissioning, and maintenance of SIL/HIL test environments, including test automation and interface development.
- Participate in Agile development activities, including planning, estimation, work package execution, and status reporting.
- Track and report software quality metrics, test coverage, defect trends, and technical performance measures.
- Lead software test working groups, develop test reports, and present results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Create and deliver contractual documentation and customer deliverables.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior team members in software test best practices.
Basic Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in software testing, verification, validation, or systems integration.
- Proven experience developing and executing software test plans, test procedures, test cases, and automated testing solutions.
- Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, including qualification, acceptance, regression, performance, and code coverage testing.
- Experience supporting or developing SIL/HIL test environments and automated test frameworks.
- Experience working within Agile development environments and with tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Familiarity with MBSE concepts and SysML/UML-based systems engineering approaches.
- Experience with DSPACE, MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or similar test automation and simulation tools.
- Previous experience in mechatronics testing, software development, requirements development, or integration testing of complex systems.
- Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance and support occasional travel.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility to obtain it would be an asset.
- Experience with IBM Rational DOORS, Enterprise Architect, or Cameo Systems Modeler would be an asset.
- Familiarity with software safety standards such as ISO 26262 or MIL-STD-882E would be an asset.
- Experience within military, defense, ground vehicle, or safety-critical systems environments would be an asset.
- Knowledge of military vehicle platforms and integrated electronic architectures would be an asset.
