We are currently seeking a qualified Fire Protection Engineer to join our team.

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Fire Protection Engineer)
Location: Hybrid out of Overland Park, KS or Dallas, TX

Duties:

  • The Fire Protection Engineer is responsible for reviewing and evaluating facilities and equipment to determine appropriate fire protection requirements.
  • Projects primarily involve Power Plants, Oil and Gas processing facilities, Water Treatment Plants, and Data Centers.
  • Understand and apply state and local codes and standards (e.g., IBC, IFC, NFPA).
  • Proactively manage and communicate fire protection requirements to internal and external clients on assigned projects.
  • Generate code and hazard analysis review documents, detailed fire protection specifications, piping and instrument diagrams, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Review detailed sprinkler and alarm drawings/calculations for accuracy and compliance with codes.
  • Communicate with city and local officials and apply for city variances where needed.
  • Independently apply knowledge and maintain a culture that supports the implementation of quality.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and policies, and maintain a culture of safety.

Skills:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in fire protection engineering.
  • Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and be actively pursuing or already have Professional Engineer registration in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience or familiarity with Power Plants, Oil and Gas processing facilities, Water Treatment facilities, or Data Centers.
  • Strong communication skills, with a focus on results, scheduling, and priority awareness.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards.
  • Intermediate knowledge of construction practices, quality programs, and procurement & contract administration.

Education:

  • Requires a bachelor's or master’s degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and be in active pursuit of or already have a Professional Engineer registration.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
