Systems Simulation Engineer

  • Developing Rover autonomous guidance, navigation and controls capabilities: sensors data fusion, localization, vision algorithms, terrain modelling and assessment, obstacle detection and avoidance, and path planning and tracking;
  • Developing servo control laws for both robotic arm joints and mechanisms;
  • Performing simulation runs to validate mathematical models, new parameters, and control algorithms;
  • Tuning of the control system parameters of the mechanisms to meet the performance objectives required for the On-Orbit/ planetary surface tasks;
  • Performing simulation runs to analyse loads failures and recovery scenarios;
  • Performing Multi body dynamics modelling, analysis and simulations, including terra mechanics and friction-based contact modelling;
  • Deriving Space Robotics System Requirements;
  • Contributing to technology development (R&D activities).

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Systems, Computer, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent;
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience with focus on simulation and modelling;
  • Experience in simulating control systems design using MATLAB/Simulink;
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop & Software in the loop would be an asset;
  • Experience on Robot Operating System (ROS)and algorithm implementation is an asset;
  • Experience on control and dynamic modelling of multi-DOF manipulators is an asset;
  • Experience on Mobile Robot Autonomous Navigation is an asset;
  • Knowledge in thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid dynamics would be an asset;
  • Ability to work in a team environment with project engineers, systems engineers, hardware engineers, and software engineers;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
